Short answer
A condition rating for a fake Bottega Veneta bag describes how much wear the bag shows. It does not describe how close the bag comes to an authentic one. Sellers use two separate scales: condition grade and replica tier. A mirror-tier replica with scuffed corners rates Good. A low-tier replica kept in a dust bag can rate New.
Standard condition grades
Resale platforms publish grade scales for pre-owned luxury bags. Common tiers:
Condition of a Fake Bottega Bag New: What to Look For
- New: No wear. Tags, dust bag, and box present.
- Excellent: No visible wear on leather or hardware. Interior clean.
- Very Good: Light wear at corners, handles, or interior. Shape intact.
- Good: Visible wear, edge glazing loss, hardware scratches, softened weave.
- Fair: Heavy wear, cracks in leather, broken hardware, stains.
Replica tiers are not condition grades
Replica sellers label stock with tiers instead of grades. Terms in use include mirror, 1:1, AAA, and super fake. These labels speak to material, stitch density, and hardware weight. They do not change with use. A bag sold as mirror tier keeps that tier label after a year of wear, but its condition grade drops.
Inspection points on an intrecciato bag
Bottega Veneta bags carry no external logo on most models. The intrecciato weave is the main visual feature. Grade these points:

- Weave alignment: strips sit flat and tight. Loose or lifted strips lower the grade.
- Corner wear: rub points on the base and corners show first.
- Edge glazing: check for peeling at the top opening and strap edges.
- Handle and strap: look for stretch, cracking, or darkened leather.
- Hardware: check plating loss, tarnish, and zipper pull. Knot-clasp models need a working clasp.
- Interior: lining stains, pen marks, and odor.
- Shape: a collapsed cassette or Jodie body points to storage damage.
Score sheet
Give each of the six points a 0 to 2 score. A total of 12 points maps to Excellent. 8 to 11 maps to Very Good. 4 to 7 maps to Good. Under 4 maps to Fair. Photograph each point before a sale.
What no rating covers
A condition rating cannot confirm authenticity, and it cannot confirm legal status. Counterfeit goods are illegal to sell in the US under trademark law. Ratings also skip smell, weight, and leather feel. Those need a hands-on check.
