Dust bags are cream or beige cotton with a printed Gucci logo. The fabric is dense. Fakes ship with thin, shiny bags and blurred print.
RFID
Some Gucci bags made after 2016 hold an RFID chip in the internal tag. Common phone apps cannot read it. A failed scan does not prove a bag is fake.
How to check a bag before you buy
- Compare the listed price to gucci.com. Anything below half of retail needs proof of source.
- Ask for a sharp photo of the internal tags, both of them.
- Ask for the receipt or order number. Gucci client services answers questions about a specific item.
- Check the zipper brand and count the stitches in a close photo.
- Use a Gucci store or a paid authenticator. A written opinion carries more weight than a forum post.
Scale of the counterfeit market
