Short answer
"Hermès Alizé GM" does not match a name on the current Hermès product pages. The closest match is the Hermès Aline, an open-top shoulder bag sold in PM, MM and GM sizes. A listing for a fake Hermès Alizé GM is a copy of the Aline GM or of a similar flat tote. The name works as a search term, not as a model reference. Confirm the exact bag before you pay.
What the Aline GM looks like
The Aline has a flat body, one shoulder strap and a tab that closes the top. GM means grand modèle, the largest of the three sizes. Bodies come in leather and in canvas with leather trim. Hardware is small: one ring on each side and one closure on the tab. The bag has no flap and no turnlock. A copy that shows a flap, a turnlock or a padlock is a copy of a different model.
Hermès does not publish one fixed size chart for older runs. Ask the seller for measured width, height and strap drop in centimeters. Compare those numbers with the size you want.
Replica tiers and price bands
Suppliers split stock into three bands. Prices below are USD listing prices on wholesale and resale sites.
- Low band, $40 to $120: split leather or PU, machine stitching, thick edge paint. Strap tabs sit off center.
- Middle band, $130 to $300: full-grain cowhide, denser stitch line, plated metal hardware.
- High band, $350 to $700 and up: mirror-cut patterns, hand-finished edges, hardware matched to the original finish, dust bag and box.
Price does not track quality on its own. Ask for photos of the stitch line at the strap tab, the stamp inside the body and the edge paint under daylight.
Points to inspect on a replica Aline GM
- Stamp. Hermès puts a blind stamp on the body: a shape, letters and digits. On a copy the stamp sits too deep or too shallow, and the letters are uneven.
- Stitch count. Count stitches in 1 cm. Dense, even spacing is normal on the original. Sparse or slanted stitches mark a lower tier.
- Edge paint. Look for a thin, even coat. Paint that covers the stitch line is a defect.
- Strap tab. The tab should meet the body at a right angle and close with a light pull.
- Hardware. Rings should feel solid, with no seam line and no sharp edge.
- Lining. Ask which material the seller uses. Many replicas use microfiber where the original uses leather or canvas.
Legal position in the US
Counterfeit handbags break trademark law. 18 U.S.C. § 2320 covers trafficking in counterfeit goods. CBP can seize and destroy a shipment at the border. A buyer who resells copies faces civil damages under the Lanham Act, with statutory awards that rise for willful conduct. The risk sits with the seller and the importer, not just the factory.
Questions for a wholesale supplier
- Which model and size will ship? Ask for a photo next to a ruler.
- Which leather or coated canvas is used, and what is the thickness in millimeters?
- What is the stitch count per centimeter?
- Is the stamp blind, with no foil, and where is it placed?
- What is the return policy on a defect?
- Which carrier and which customs route?
A supplier who answers with stock photos and no measurements gives you unknown quality. Treat the order as a sample, not as stock for resale.
