Hardware and materials
Zipper teeth on genuine bags carry brand marks or come from a named supplier. Zipper pulls have weight. Copies use stamped sheet metal. Leather grain varies across panels on a real bag. Coated copies show a repeat pattern with no variation.
Price and source
A price far below the resale range for the same model is the first flag. Ask for the receipt, the dust bag, and the box. Ask where the bag was bought and when. A seller who cannot name a store or a country is a risk.

Trafficking in counterfeit goods is a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. § 2320. A first conviction carries up to 10 years in prison.
